READ OUR STORY
"If you want to maximize your profits, read on!!"

At Focus and Leverage Consulting I'm passionate about helping companies maximize their profitability and I do so with my world renowned improvement methodology named the Ultimate Improvement Cycle (UIC).  Although I absolutely believe in Lean and Six Sigma, it is my belief that both can be significantly enhanced by integrating them with the Theory of Constraints.  Why?  Because I believe that the Theory of Constraints provides the missing link for improvement which is focus and leverage!  Focus?  Instead of trying to improve everything.....all parts of your organization.....I believe that there is a focal point that exists within all systems that provides the leverage needed to maximize your organization's profitability.  This focal point is the system constraint! Leverage? By first identifying your system constraint and focusing your improvement efforts on it, you will leverage your system to generate profit margins that well exceed profit levels you are currently experiencing!

The system constraint controls the throughput of any process and while Lean teaches us to balance each of the process steps, and Six Sigma teaches us to reduce and control variation, it is my belief that by first, identifying the system constraint and then focusing all improvement efforts on it, optimized flow and variation reduction will be the end product.  I also believe that traditional Cost Accounting leads companies in the wrong direction and metrics like operator efficiency and/or equipment utilization should be eliminated in all non-constraints and applied only to the system constraint.  If this doesn't happen, then you will have excessive amounts of work-in-process (WIP) inventory, which negatively impacts on-time delivery results, limits the amount of revenue generated, and leads to excessive amounts of cash being tied up needlessly.

Contact me and let me show you that there is a better way to "run a railroad" and it can happen at lightening speed.  I don't believe in "solving world hunger" like Lean promotes, but rather one house at a time.  I will teach you how perform a complete system's analysis on your company and then help you make improvements happen in days and weeks rather than months.  Listed below are some of the articles that Bruce Nelson and I have either written or contributed to which you might enjoy reading.  I also have inserted a training outline for my 5-day TLS Continuous Improvement Workshop. I also offer 2, 3, and 4-day training on UIC, but I also have custom-fitted classes based upon my client's needs.  I will be adding other works (both new and old) to this list of articles and will be adding white papers as well, so keep checking back.  I might add that Bruce Nelson has retired from active consulting, but I'm still here!  Many thanks to Bruce for his many contributions to Focus and Leverage's improvement efforts.

If you'd like a free PDF of my book, Epiphanized - Integrating Theory of Constraints, Lean, and Six Sigma, just click on this PDF file and download it. This book is written as a business novel and I think you'll find it useful.  It also has an appendix which goes into detail on some of the Theory of Constraints key points which could change the way your business operates.
